Toronto Police have released surveillance images after a high-speed street race ended in a crash that killed two people on Finch Avenue West early Saturday, September 5.

Police say officers responded to the Finch Avenue West and Romfield Lane area at approximately 4:34 a.m. A black Audi SUV was travelling eastbound through the intersection at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and struck a concrete traffic pole. Despite life-saving measures, the driver and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the Audi was racing another vehicle, described as a black SUV, at the time of the crash. Police are now trying to identify that vehicle’s driver and say it may have sustained damage to its front passenger side after being struck by debris from the collision.

Toronto Police’s Traffic Services unit is asking residents, businesses and drivers with security or dash-camera footage of the area to come forward. Anyone with information can contact investigators at 416-808-1900, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or 222tips.com.
The investigation is ongoing.
