Accuracy matters more than being first. When TDot News gets something wrong, we fix it openly.
How to report an error
Email [email protected] with the headline, the publication date, the specific passage you believe is wrong, and — where possible — a source that supports the correction. We aim to respond within two business days.
What we do
- Factual error affecting the substance of a story: we correct the text and add a dated correction note at the foot of the article explaining what was wrong and what changed.
- Minor error such as a typo, a misspelled name or a broken link: we fix it quietly, and add a note if the change alters meaning.
- Clarification: where a story was accurate but open to misreading, we add a dated clarification rather than a correction.
- Retraction: where a story cannot be substantiated, we retract it. The article stays online with a clear retraction notice at the top so the record is not quietly erased.
We do not delete published articles to make an error disappear, and we do not remove correction notices once posted.
Unpublishing requests
We consider requests to remove or anonymise an article only in narrow circumstances — for example, a demonstrable safety risk. Requests should go to [email protected] and will be assessed by an editor.
