A 46-year-old Burlington man is charged with first-degree murder after a woman was found dead in a Burlington apartment on Thursday morning.
Halton police say officers went to an apartment in the Guelph Line and Glencrest Road area around 6:30 a.m. on September 10 to check on a woman’s wellbeing, and found her dead inside. A man had left the apartment before officers arrived.
He drove to the Niagara Falls area. Halton contacted Niagara Regional Police, who located and arrested him at about 7:45 a.m. — roughly an hour and a quarter after the first officers reached the apartment.
Police say the man and the woman knew each other. One count of first-degree murder has been laid. The charge has not been tested in court.
Neither the accused nor the victim has been identified. The force is not releasing the accused’s name because of a publication ban.
“The HRPS extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time,” the service said.
