Apple has unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, featuring a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display, both built with Apple’s Super Retina XDR technology.
Apple says the inner screen is about 50 per cent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s display when unfolded. The phone folds shut using a titanium frame and hinge cover, and Apple says it carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance along with Ceramic Shield on the front and back.
The device runs on Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, which the company says offers up to 20 per cent faster CPU performance and 50 per cent more memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro used in last year’s lineup. It ships with iOS 27, which Apple has reworked to adapt the interface across the phone’s folded, unfolded and tent-style orientations.
On the camera side, the iPhone Duo has a 48-megapixel Dual Fusion rear system (a 48MP main lens paired with a 48MP ultra-wide) and a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera, along with an under-display FaceTime camera built into the inner screen. Apple is also touting a dual-battery system, rated for up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display or 44 hours on the outer display, with fast charging that reaches roughly 50 per cent in about 20 minutes.
The iPhone Duo comes in two finishes, Night Sky and Star White, with storage options up to 2TB. It is eSIM-only, with no physical SIM tray, and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and satellite-based messaging and emergency SOS.
Apple says pre-orders open at 5 a.m. PT on Oct. 16, with the phone reaching stores on Oct. 23. Pricing was not listed on Apple’s product page at the time of publication.
