The national regulator for immigration consultants has permanently revoked the licence of a Mississauga practitioner, in a set of tribunal decisions that also touched licensees in Ontario, Alberta and Quebec.
The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants published its August tribunal actions on August 31. Vinay Sachdeva of Growing Globe Immigration Inc. in Mississauga had his licence permanently revoked and was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and $10,000 in costs. The College describes the conduct at issue as including guaranteed work permit approvals, refunds that were not honoured, and minimal service delivery.
A permanent revocation is the most serious sanction the College can impose. It means the licensee can no longer lawfully provide immigration advice or representation for a fee anywhere in Canada.
The same bulletin records that six complaints against Mala L N Sharma-Singh and Reati Ray Sivanand Singh of Ramara, Ontario were consolidated into a single proceeding. Xiaoxue Yu of Edmonton received a five-month suspension and a $5,000 fine. Two motions involving Loujin Khalil of Montreal were dismissed.
Only licensed consultants and lawyers are authorised to give immigration advice for a fee in Canada. Anyone can check whether a consultant is licensed, suspended or revoked through the College’s public register before paying for services.
The College also announced in late August that Michael Huynh has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer.
