Algoma Steel is fined $1.2 million over a 2022 gear oil spill into the St. Marys River
A guilty plea to two federal counts over an estimated 1,000 to 1,250 litres of gear oil. The money goes to the Environmental Damages Fund, and the company joins the Environmental Offenders Registry.
