Four people, one of them 17, are facing dozens of weapons charges after Toronto police answered a person-with-a-gun call in the Dufferin Street and Steeles Avenue West area and seized two loaded prohibited firearms.
Police were called to the area on Sunday, September 6. Officers allege the accused were all seated in a vehicle in a parking lot, three of them wearing masks, when responding officers arrived and located it. Two were arrested inside the vehicle; the other two ran and were caught on foot. Two loaded prohibited firearms were seized, and 32 Division has released images of them.
Aisosa Osadebamwen, 20, of Toronto faces the longest list — 20 counts as the release lists them, including two counts of possessing a loaded regulated firearm, four counts of possessing a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing he had no authority, two counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Nana Asamoh, 18, of Toronto and Tafary Church, 24, of Toronto each face nine or more counts covering the same ground, and Church is additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order. A 17-year-old male is charged with eight counts; he cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The three adults were scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Monday, September 7. None of the charges has been proven in court.
